Maui Journal 2007
Maui in April is nothing short of sublime! Balmy breezes, sunshine, torrential rains which last for 10 minutes, and flowering jacarandas lining the highway. It was a real feast for the senses. I arrived on April 15 and after a few bumps and starts gave a free talk on Tuesday evening. This was held at the Sacred Garden, a magnificent 10,000 sq. ft. nursery and centre for awareness. My host, and owner, Eve Hogan has an eye and heart for creating truly sacred spaces. Within the nursery there is a gigantic carved Buddha and an altar flanked by vividly colored local flowers. Prayer flags flutter above, candles are lit and a sense of deep serenity flows freely. Outside, in the garden, under a canopy of trees is a labyrinth that guests can walk and benches to just sit and absorb the beauty.
The talk went well. I wanted to share my experiences as a professional psychic and it gave rise to a lively discussion.
Eve graciously let me use her office for private sessions and my
clients and I were awed by just being able to sit inside the nursery
surrounded by such beauty. I met a lot of wonderful people in the
course of the readings and was struck by how many people are dedicated
to their process of awareness and consciousness. A lot of hard work
goes on and I hope I was able to add
something to the mix!
When I arrived my dear friend, Maryanna, greeted me with a lei of purple flowers and whisked me up to her farm and studio in Kula. She is a truly gifted artist and does a contemporary style of Buddhist Tangka. Her home is located about 4,000 ft. up the side of Haleakala Crater and was the former site of a Yoga retreat centre. I was a little nervous, at first, about being up the side of a volcano. One of my “abilities” if you can call it that! Is that I am very land sensitive. Active volcanoes, underground geothermal activity sends me into orbit!! Luckily, Haleakala is pretty much dormant!! Her view encompasses the far side of the Island, Kihe, Lahina, amazing cloud action and the sunsets!!
Maryanna painted the inside of the Stupa at the Dharma Centre in Pa’ia in honor of HH The Dalai Lama’s visit. It was a mélange of Buddhist Tara, Hawaiian motifs, all sides and ceiling beautifully frescoed by her. It was breathtaking! She was able to get VIP tickets for me to hear the two public talks and one private talk given by His Holiness. I felt so fortunate and blessed to be in His Holiness’ presence.
I spent 2 weeks on Maui; working, meeting lots of wonderful people and will look forward to a return visit next spring 2008. I will be offering readings, talks and workshops. Aloha! Til then!
