The "Mayan Calendar" was initially created over 13,750 years ago to adjust for the moon that had come into orbit around the planet Earth. Prior to this, one solar Earth year comprised of 360 days. After the moon came into orbit, the year became what it is still today, 365.25 days. Today we call it the "Mayan Calendar." When it was created, it was created together with all indigenous people who lived in what we now refer to as North, South and Central America.
