Bud Hopkins is a New York artist who believes people he studies have been abducted by UFOs. That wasn't a misrepresentation by the documentary.

This documentary was fair and balanced. Short? Yes. Biased? No. They used established persuasive techniques to attempt to remove biases from viewers who may have already made up their minds on the subject. They were lured in, then a different perspective was presented and some good questions asked. That's exactly what the topic needs. In contrast, the crap on the History Channel mixes reliable witnesses with unreliable ones, and takes all sorts of government documents and newspaper stories out of context. Last night, there was one account of a USO. The narrator says the witness saw an artificial craft, and then cites as evidence for this person saying this a newspaper clipping that says this same person watched the largest meteor he'd ever seen. No sworn affidavit from the witness. No quotes of such a claim from the date it occurred in the press. And of course the witness was deceased. A bunch of second hand accounts are not going to convince anyone. Now, there are USOs. But that was no way to go about convincing anyone of it. Yet, a good 50% of the discussion out there uses these erroneous techniques. The ABC special, in contrast, used valid investigative techniques.

There is also little or no evidence that Roswell was an alien craft. The whole alien bodies aspect of the story didn't even show up until decades later after others had been talking about the subject of alien abductions. The pattern of the development of this Roswell mythos has followed the same one seen in most known histrionic confabulations. There is very little evidence of a "shadow government". At best, there are a few instances of events occurring on military bases and the military clearly having no clue what is going on...so they classify it. There's nothing conspiratorial about that. Go study U.S. information classification procedures and see for yourself. I was the first person in the world to have brought this up in the UFO community as one of the primary reasons for why the US government handles this information the way it does. This is one of the same reasons the 9/11 guys weren't nabbed. After that terrorist attack, UFO magazine approached me to write a front page article since I had predicted these sorts of failures in a piece I wrote on NIDSCI. I declined their offer.

Why? Because most of you guys are nut jobs. I am an alien abductee, but quite frankly do not want your help researching this stuff. Government conspiracies? Sacred encounters? Remote viewing? What's next, magic crystal balls? Dude, don't quit your day job.
