"I
was there on Election Night, and it was such a beautiful, peaceful,
joyous evening. The crowd was the happiest, most friendly and peaceful
crowd I've ever been a part of...I was just in awe and full of joy the
whole night. I had my camera with me, and at first I didn't even think
about taking pictures, then I thought, eh, they probably won't turn
out, and when I finally realized I could probably capture orbs all
around us, I scrambled to take a few pictures!! I know you will
appreciate these more than anyone else, and you are free to send them,
post them, etc. anywhere and to everyone. While I could sometimes get
a glimpse of the podium from where I was standing, I was mainly
watching on the jumbo screen right in front of me...so the one picture
of Obama is a picture of him on the screen, as I was not close enough
to the podium to get any pictures. When we were leaving the park
(which could have turned into a chaotic stampede but was once again
just a love fest with everyone so happy and friendly), I turned around
to take a few pictures of the scene, and the girl next to me was doing
the same thing. She turned to her friend and said, "I really need to
clean my camera lens, these pictures are just full of spots!" I was
close enough to glance over at the litle screen on her digital camera,
and, seeing all the orbs in her picture, I just smiled. I wanted so
badly to tell her what a wonderful and joyous sign those "spots" were,
but I held my tongue for fear of disillisuioning a complete stranger...
"The last picture was taken as we were walking north on Michigan Ave,
with the Art Institute on the right...it was so cool to walk right down
the middle of the street, as the road was blocked off for a few
miles...people were dancing, singing, and celebrating with such a sense
of unity...."
